1958 EDSEL CITATION CONVERTIBLE
Finished in classic Frost White with beautiful Pink and White interior. This exquisite motorcar comes fitted with many options, including its original matching number E-475 V8 engine, power steering, power brakes, power convertible top and more! This original California car is restored and is now ready to be shown or driven! We are proud to offer this investment grade Citation convertible to the most astute collector, investor and enthusiast who understands and appreciates the rarity and investment potential of this true American classic. Bid with confidence – you will not be disappointed in this truly magnificent motorcar! HISTORY OF THE 1958 EDSEL CITATION CONVERTIBLE: 345 bhp, 410 cu. in. overhead valve V8 engine, four-barrel carburetor, Teletouch three-speed automatic transmission, coil spring front and leaf spring suspension, four-wheel self-adjusting drum brakes. Wheelbase: 114″ The Edsel would go down in the annals of automotive history as being the car with the most epic promotional campaign of all time. From conception to production and nine years of arduous planning, “E”-Day would finally arrive September 4, 1957 with unprecedented fanfare. With multi-page “teaser” ads in major national magazines, and by pre-empting The Ed Sullivan Show with The Edsel Show featuring Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra, the Edsel generated more showroom traffic on “E”-Day than any other automobile in history. Despite its highly publicized introduction into the market and the four hundred million dollars Ford invested in its development, the Edsel was not as successful as Ford executives had hoped and production was cut short after only three model years and approximately 110,000 units produced. Of these, it is estimated that less than 6,000 Edsels survive today. Over the past five decades, the public opinion of the Edsel has changed dramatically, as many enthusiasts consider each and every surviving example a treasured classic. The 1958 Edsel Citation Convertible presented here was the very highest offering of the 1958 Edsel line. It is one of only 930 Citation convertibles built and one of only two originally fitted with factory air conditioning. Edsel offered 161 colors in 1958, and with the choice of either a single-, two- or three-tone paint scheme on the Citation, customers had, in theory, several million color combinations to choose from when ordering their new car. This particular Edsel from the Dauer Collection is one of the two cars fitted with factory air conditioning and was formerly owned by noted collector Jerry Capizzi. It is finished in Gold Metallic and cream with a cream colored top, and the same colors are repeated in the interior. The car is fully restored; it has been shown at several events and has earned an enviable collection of awards. No detail was overlooked in this restoration, and it is quite simply outstanding! Since its acquisition by the Dauers, it has been maintained in climate controlled storage and, as such, the restoration has held up very, very well. The extensive list of awards includes Best of Show (1992 1EC National Convention), two First Place awards (1993 EOC National Convention, Richmond and Des Moines), First Place Junior (1994 AACA Mid-Central National), First Place Senior (EOC & IEC Grand National and 1994 AACA Eastern Division), the Bomgardner Award at the 1995 AACA Annual Meeting and a First Place & Preservation Award at the 1995 AACA Grand National. Fully optioned, the Citation convertible comes with power steering, power brakes, power windows, a power top, a push button “Teletouch” automatic transmission, a compass, Town & Country radio, dual spotlights, fender skirts, back-up lights, a traffic viewer, factory air conditioning, and windshield washers. Exceptionally rare and well equipped, this example presents an opportunity not to be missed. Perhaps period advertisements said it best – “Once you’ve seen it, you’ll never forget it. Once you’ve owned it, you’ll never want to change.” CLICK HERE for recent auction results for a similar car sold for $96,250. CLICK HERE to watch a CNBC Video on Investing in Classic Cars!

Financing

Finance rates as low as 8.9%.

We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard “used car” rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.

We work closely with many banking institutions that understand and recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.

Terms available up to 144 Months
